Queen Bey has spoken: on the first day of the Supreme Court hearings on California’s Prop 8, pop superstar Beyonce has posted a photo on social media showing her support for gay marriage.

As they say, a photo is worth a thousand words – and Beyonce’s pleads in favor of love, no matter the orientation.

You can see it attached to this article.

The photo is actually a handwritten message from Beyonce, on red paper, a direct reference to the Human Rights Campaign’s choice of color for universal love and acceptance.

It reads, “If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it,” a play on the words of her hit single “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).”

“WeWillUnite4MarriageEquality,” Beyonce adds in a hashtag below the brief message.

The photo was posted on both Instagram and Facebook, and has already generated the most amazing response from fans, including countless comments (most of them praising the singer for her stance), retweets, likes and shares.

“It's about time,” she wrote in another photo. “#MarriageIsLove. Show your support!”

Of course, Beyonce isn’t the only celebrity speaking out on marriage equality but, as it so happens, she’s one of the most powerful stars of the day, so it makes sense that her words have a bigger impact on fans.

The same applies to her husband, rapper Jay-Z who, last year, echoed her sentiment, speaking out against discriminating against gays by denying their right to marry.

“I've always thought it was something that was still holding the country back,” he said of gay couples’ inability to legally marry.

“What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That's their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It's discrimination, plain and simple,” the rapper added.
