One might not believe it at first sight, since Beyonce is and has always been in terrific shape, but this is one star who is not afraid to speak out on her weight issues as a child. It seems not even the greatest pop divas of our times, as she’s often referred to, are spared the problems usually associated with adolescence, such as a few extra pounds or acne, as Beyonce reveals in a new interview with Britain’s Glamour magazine.

Just like many other stars before her – more specifically like Eva Longoria, who has recently been crowned the hottest woman on TV, yet insists she was anything even remotely close to the stunner she is now as she was growing up – Beyonce is also speaking out about her troubled teen years. According to the singer, she wasn’t always the stylish, gorgeous woman we see now, but quite on the contrary, a frustrated young girl who was fat, ugly and believed no one would ever want to date her.

“Of course I’ve had an ugly period. When I was around 10 or 11, my mother gave me this really ugly haircut and I was really, really chubby. So chubby that my family used to all lay me down flat so they could zip up my jeans. It took four of them and I would lie there on the bed while they all got to it.” the singer says for the latest issue of the magazine, as quoted by BANG Showbiz.

In time, she did lose the weight but not her frustrations, Beyonce reveals. One thing that she has come to regret about becoming famous at such an early age (Beyonce broke in the spotlight with Destiny’s Child when she was just 15) is that she never really had the chance to live all those years like she was supposed to. Because of this, she feels like she has lost an important part of her life, but that is not to say that she wouldn’t do just the same if she could turn back time, of course.

“There were certain moments when I was 18 and would look out of the window and see girls going to parties with their boyfriends and think, ‘How am I ever going to meet anybody?’ I couldn’t just go on a date and nobody was going to ask me out. I was working too hard and not exposed to people my own age so I didn’t know how I was going to meet them.” Beyonce explains for the same mag.
