Luckily, husband Jay Z was on hand to retrieve it and even to crack a joke

Beyonce and husband Jay Z were one of the many couples to walk the red carpet at last night’s MET Gala 2014, which took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, but they made sure all eyes were on them. As if Beyonce’s daring fashion choice weren’t enough for that, they also shared a funny and cute moment together.

The Costume Institute Gala Benefit is also known as the “Oscars of fashion” because some of the biggest names in fashion and showbiz come together for what could only be described best as a feast for the (fashion-loving) eye.

The 2014 edition celebrated the opening of the Charles James: Beyond Fashion exhibit and listed as co-chairs Sarah Jessica Parker, Bradley Cooper, Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief for Vogue magazine, and others.

Charles James is an American fashion designer known as “America’s First Couturier,” famous for his highly structured designs and trademark cuts. In tone with the theme of the evening, the red carpet was literally flooded with bold colors and fabrics, surprising combinations of both and, last but not least, structured gowns.

Beyonce opted for black but there was nothing conservative about her gown, a beaded Givenchy Haute Couture design by Riccardo Tisci that was both very low-cut and see-through. Meanwhile, Jay Z was his usual dapper self in a two-tone tux by Givenchy Haute Couture.

Just Jared reports that, shortly after they made their entrance on the red carpet, one of Beyonce’s rings (she was decked in diamonds by Lorraine Schwartz, her favorite jeweler) slipped off her finger and she didn’t realize it until it was too late.

Luckily, Jay was there to give her a helping hand, so he went back and looked for the ring. After he found it, he returned to place it back on his wife’s finger and, in doing so, he even made a joke, pretending to propose to her. Beyonce was giggling like a schoolgirl and, from what you can see in pics over at the e-zine, it was a very cute moment.

Back to the topic of Beyonce’s dress, Us Weekly says it was covered in crystals. “Queen Bey looked stunning in a black dress which was covered all over with crystals, stones and studs. The 32-year-old wore a matching bodysuit underneath with embroidered fishnet tights and shiny crocodile leather sandals,” says the e-zine.

Her headpiece and veil were by Philip Treacy, an Irish milliner who made a lot of headlines right after Kate Middleton’s wedding because he had designed most fascinators wore on that occasion.
