Beyonce Knowles is truly one of the most successful female performers of our time and, as proof of that, Billboard magazine has just announced she will be honored with the most significant award. The “Halo” singer is not only talented and universally appreciated, but also an esteemed humanitarian and a role model for all women out there – because of this and so much more, she’s just been named the Woman of the Year by Billboard magazine, HollyScoop informs.

“Beyonce will accept the award at the publication’s annual Women In Music Event in New York on October 2. She’s being honored for all her accomplishments, including a sell-out world tour, chart-topping album ‘I Am… Sasha Fierce’ and her humanitarian efforts which include teaming up with General Mills Hamburger Helper and Feeding America to deliver 3.5 million meals to local food banks and giving 2,500 concert tickets to disadvantaged families.” the e-zine says of the reasons behind honoring Beyonce with the award.

Every once in a while, certain performers have the ability to transcend the music they make and the performances they put on to become icons. Beyonce is one such icon, having long crossed the boundary between singer and legend: she embodies excellence and is the perfect example of how talent and hard work can lead to international recognition and success. Previous holders of the Woman of the Year title are R&B star Ciara and country singer Reba McIntyre.

“Beyonce is multi-platinum artist and a multi-talented woman who clearly embodies the qualities of excellence and achievement that the Billboard Woman Of The Year Award was created to honor. She has not only influenced pop culture with her hit songs and signature dance moves, but has inspired women everywhere with her unique style, business savvy and dedication to charitable causes.” Bill Werde, editorial director for Billboard, says in a press statement.

On October 2, when Beyonce will accept her Woman of the Year accolade, she will also perform live, but, as of now, further details on that have not yet been revealed.
