Fans will get their chance to smell like the diva come February

It’s not uncommon for celebrities to put out fragrances that they back by name or, at best, help create. For some reason or another, Beyonce has not yet explored this part of her creative personality, but all that is about to change in February 2010, when Heat, her first fragrance ever, will arrive in stores, thanks to a partnership with Coty, People magazine has recently learned.

Speaking with Women’s Wear Daily, as cited by People, Beyonce makes it a point that she’s not involved in the new perfume by name alone: if Heat is anything, then it’s her brainchild, a fragrance that best sums up the essence of a diva. The singer says she’s been very active in the creation of the upcoming product, from the design of the bottle to the notes that make it up and, last but not least, the marketing campaign and the ads.

“I’m so happy with it. I’ve been working on it for a while now. I was on tour for a year, and I have meet-and-greets with fans. I’ve never in my life gotten so many compliments. Coty has their own testing, but that was my testing! The fans loved it. They were like, ‘I love that, I’m getting that, why isn’t it out right now? I need it! A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat.’ Also, red is one of my favorite colors, as is gold,” Beyonce says of the creation of Heat.

As for the design of the bottle, there too buyers will be able to feel Beyonce’s magic touch. “I wanted something with an antique yet modern feeling. Even with my wardrobe, I always try to find things that have a little bit of something vintage, yet still timeless and classic. Everything, from the bottle design to the name and the ideas for the commercials – that’s me. When I commit to something, I do it 100 percent,” the singer adds.

Heat comes with top notes of magnolia, neroli, blush peach and red vanilla orchid. It will come in three sizes of eaux de parfum and a body lotion, and will be available at Macy’s and other specialty stores for $39-$59.
