Internet users, particularly ones in search for a job, should be on the lookout for scam emails promoting job offers at Australian airline Qantas.

According to Hoax Slayer, the emails have nothing to do with Qantas. Instead, they’re part of a cybercriminal scheme that’s designed to trick internauts into handing over personal information and money.

“Dear Sir/Madam, Qantas Airline is a diverse international carrier with over 10,000 foreign employees worldwide. Qantas Airline take pride in being the face of Qantas in many different countries, all over the world. Our Local and international crew operates over 900 flights each week, often on the new A380 aircraft,” the scam emails read.

“Our Flight Attendants are natural, genuine and engaging people who compliment our world-class premium brand. Representing Qantas brings great opportunity for everyone who joins this dynamic team environment. Meeting new people is a daily occurrence and travelling to unique international destinations presents an exciting new way of life.”

A total of 39 types of jobs are promoted in the scam emails, including for air traffic control, accounting, cabin crew, administration, cargo, chefs, customer relations, flight simulations, maintenance, marketing, pilots, retail, sales, ticketing and reservation, and many others. Users are promised a 5-year renewable contract.

Those interested in the job offers are instructed to send a resume to [email protected]. The scammers even have a Skype ID (hrdqantas).

In case you come across these emails, don’t respond to them. The scammers will ask you to pay all sorts of fees that are allegedly needed to cover various costs. They claim applicants will be fully reimbursed once they’re hired.

However, that doesn’t happen since there are no real jobs and, unfortunately, recovering any of the money handed over to the crooks is in most cases impossible.
