Banks will never ask for your password and credit card numbers

“Your account on file with us has been limited due to incorrect account information. If you want to continue using our services, you have to renew your online account right away. If not, your account will be deactivated.”

If you see a message such as this one, apparently coming from ANZ, you should know that it’s actually part of a phishing campaign that’s designed to steal the online banking credentials of unsuspecting users.

The links contained in the notification don’t lead to a legitimate ANZ domain, but to one set up by the cybercriminals. Here, victims are asked to provide all their banking details, allowing the fraudsters to gain access to their assets.

Beware of such emails and remember that legitimate financial institutions will never ask you to provide passwords, credit card numbers, PINs and other sensitive information.
