BetterCables.com, a leading manufacturer/retailer of high-performance audio/video cables and accessories, today announced the release of its new Display Magic 5-input HDMI Switcher, which supports all current and future HDTV resolutions including 1080p, as well as PC resolutions to 1900x1200 60Hz and is able to enable up to five of the most demanding digital video sources to share the same input on the display.

The Display Magic 5-to-1 HDMI Switcher is said to be one of the most advanced HDMI switchers available currently available on the retail market, as it is HDCP-compliant for high definition cable/satellite receivers as well as DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-ray. The Display Magic 5-to-1 HDMI Switcher also features an equalizing "booster" output that will drive the HDMI signal long distances.

"Our HDMI switcher solves a big problem with HDMI displays," said Brad Marcus, founder of BetterCables.com. "This switcher will allow up to five of the most demanding digital video sources to share the same input on the display."

The Display Magic HDMI Switcher includes five HDMI inputs, selectable via front panel button or via the included IR remote control, being able to accept any HDMI source, including HDTV, DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-ray or PCs.

On the other hand, at the end of last month, the seven HDMI Founder companies - Hitachi, Ltd., Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic), Royal Philips Electronics, Silicon Image, Inc., Sony Corp., Thomson, Inc. and Toshiba Corp. - released an important development of the High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) specification, the standard digital interface for high definition consumer electronics - HDMI 1.3.

"HDMI is an established cornerstone for the whole High Definition TV industry and Philips is extremely pleased to see such significant improvements for picture and sound quality with this new version," commented then Johan van de Ven, CTO and Senior Vice President of Royal Philips Consumer Electronics International B.V. "We look forward to continuing to work with other HDMI Founder companies to extend the scope of HDMI across new devices and applications, while remaining entirely committed to ensuring full backward compatibility with existing products."
