American multinational consumer electronics corporation Best Buy and American provider of energy services SolarCity have recently teamed up and are now looking to promote the use of sun power across the United States.

On the official website for this initiative, SolarCity explains that, for the time being, less than 500,000 household-based photovoltaic installations are up and running in the country.

This basically means that the United States is home to tens of millions of empty rooftops, and SolarCity cannot help but view this situation as a major loss for the country and its population.

Together with Best Buy, the energy services provider wishes to solve this problem by making it easier for folks living in this country to fit their homes with solar arrays and make the most of this clean energy source, Solar City goes on to say.

According to Think Progress, the partnership boils down to the fact that SolarCity is now offering its services at about 60 Best Buy stores in the following states: Arizona, California, Hawaii, New York, and Oregon.

More precisely, people who visit these stores can close a deal and have the energy services provider fit photovoltaic installations onto their homes free of charge.

Once these installations become operational, the people whose homes accommodate for them will pay SolarCity for the perks of having sun power meet at least some of this electricity demand.

“SolarCity can put a solar power system on your home at no cost to you and sell you the energy it produces for less than you currently pay,” the energy services provider explains.

“We’re America’s #1 full-service solar provider. Our highly trained team will walk you through every step of your solar project.”

“We take care of everything. We even cover ongoing system maintenance, repairs and insurance at no added costs. It’s clean energy with no worries,” it adds.

Most of the people who have seconds thoughts about investing in photovoltaic installations do so due to the fact that they are worried about installation costs, permits, maintenance and the like.

Consequently, SolarCity is quite convinced that its offering to take care of these issues will help make sun power more appealing to people in the United States.

Just in case anyone was wondering what Best Buy gets out of this partnership, it must be said that folks who enter such so-called third-party leasing agreements until April 22 will receive a $100 (€72) Best Buy gift card, courtesy of SolarCity.
