Recently, leading retailer Best Buy has put in place a new, appealing offering for those customers who would purchase a new Windows Phone device, namely a free 4,000-point Xbox Live card.

As soon as you head to the retailer and make a purchase, you will receive the said 4,000 Xbox Live points, to enjoy them in the manner you consider best fitted.

Windows Phone, the latest mobile platform from the Redmond-based software giant Microsoft, comes with support for Xbox Live, and with access to specific games.

“Experience your favorite Xbox games when away from home – on a Windows Phone,” Best Buy notes on the special page it put in place for the promotion.

“Windows Phone 7 is the only phone that lets you play games with Xbox Live. You'll be able to see who's online and what you friends are doing on their consoles, PCs or Windows Phones. Plus, earn, view and track achievements, view Xbox Live leaderboards and more.”

With these free 4,000 Microsoft Points cards, users will be offered the possibility to download Xbox games, get game add-ons, or download songs, albums and music videos.

One thing that should be mentioned here is that the phone and the points might not ship at the same time.

Moreover, users should know that the points are available for purchasing only games and game add-ons for the Xbox 360 console, and not for the mobile phone in their hands.

Even so, the offering seems appealing, especially for those Xbox enthusiasts who would like to get a new mobile phone, and who are considering the purchase of a Windows Phone-based device.

In the US, people can purchase Windows Phones on any of the four major networks in the country, including AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon.

On AT&T, users can enjoy the HTC HD7S, HTC Surround, the LG Quantum and the Samsung Focus. Sprint has the HTC Arrive available for its customers.

On T-Mobile, users can connect with the Dell Venue Pro and the HTC HD7, while Verizon Wireless has the HTC Trophy available for its customers.
