In reference to the Venice Biennale, the Berlin International Film Festival is also known as the "Berlinale" and is the film festival with most visitors worldwide. Held annually in February, this year, the Berlinale is going to be last between February 8 and 18, and since most of the visitors are also consumers of various media players...

Apple is sponsoring Berlinale's Talent Campus 2007, an event that will gather 350 film makers from all over the world for six days, between 10 and the 16th of February. This event is going to begin with an award ceremony for the best international short film, and the topic chosen this year for the film-makers present is exactly the location, Berlin. To be more specific, the Campus invites the creators to develop short movie ideas that are somehow related to Berlin, and the three best concepts that are chosen by a committee are going to become reality with the support of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and, of course, the film industry.

The new Garage Flick project sponsored by Apple will produce a short digital film each day while this event lasts, and each of these short movies is going to be published online with Apple's support, becoming available on the official Campus website, as well as podcasts via the iTunes Store, of course.

This year's finalists include "Shanty Garden Town" by Guillaume Giovanetti (France) and Cagla Zencirci (Turkey), "The Great Water Battle" by Katarzyna Klimkiewicz (Poland) and Andrew Friedman (US), and animated film "The Woolen Hat" by Rhoda Kawinga (Zambia). If all these are not enough, then you'll be pleased to find out that additional podcasts created by an Apple film team will present the events, as well as interviews with various people involved in the Campus, so if you're into this industry, or simply a movie addict, prepare for a world-scale event made a little different with Apple's help.
