Benq Mobile has announced the P51 Pocket PC phone at last year's CeBIT, and this year, the manufacturer has finally released it. That's right, it took them a little bit more than a year to get this handheld launched. Despite the long wait, the P51 comes with the same features that were mentioned before.

It includes support for quad-band GSM/GPRS (but not EDGE), WIFI and Bluetooth with stereo headset support for connectivity, and SDIO slot, 1.3 megapixel camer and a 2.8 inch touchscreen with a QVGA resolution. Moreover it is powered by Windows Mobile 5.0 Pocket PC edition and boasts GPS capabilities.

The handheld will display the current location on a real-time on-screen map and provide the best route for the selected destination. It also packs a wide variety of functions that enable business professionals to still work efficiently even while on the go, including applications for editing and creating office documents, push mail support for real-time email and PIM applications like task reminder and personal memo function.

For the user's spare time, the Benq P51 will also work as a decent MP3 player and includes a memory card slot compatible with SD and MMC cards, so music storing won't be something to worry about. Finally, if they had launched it soon after the announcement, it would have been quite an appealing device.

But since they decided to wait a whole year to make this handheld available, it definitely won't be able to compete with newer devices that obviously sport more advanced features. The P51 is now available in Singapore and Turkey with no information provided on whether it will become available anywhere else in the future.
