Excellent news for Sherlock Holmes fans, especially for those dying to know whether season 3 of BBC One’s “Sherlock” will also be the last. As it turns out, it won’t – and this comes straight from the leading man himself.

Check out the video above for confirmation that season 4 will also be made.

Benedict Cumberbatch stars as the highly functional and extremely intelligent sociopath in the critically and commercially successful series but, until now, a fourth season was uncertain because of scheduling issues.

Each season of “Sherlock” is made up of three 90-minute films, which means shooting can get tricky, especially in a context in which Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman’s schedules are completely packed.

“We’ve agreed to two more series but I could get into trouble for saying that. All I know at the moment is I’m doing these three [episodes of the upcoming series] and another three,” Cumberbatch says.
