BenQ has just announced two additions to its LCD display lineup, products intended as affordable display solutions for the mainstream market. The new monitors are green, accessible and light models, which will perform well in homes as well as in SMB, SOHO and Education applications. Both models are 15.6-inch LED-backlit liquid crystal displays (LCDs) with a very high dynamic contrast ratio and built with the company's proprietary Senseye Human Vision Technology.

BenQ describes the G610HDAL/PL as a representation of the company's “trademarked ability to deliver leading-edge technology at a superb cost-performance ratio.” The Senseye Human Vision technology intelligently adjusts the brightness and the 5M:1 dynamic contrast ratio (DCM), in order to ensure a high-quality viewing experience, and also fine-tunes display perfection through its six one-touch settings. These settings are self explanatory and aimed at the most widespread user scenarios, namely sRGB, Standard, Photo, Movie, Game and Eco, thus allowing the image quality to be “uncompromised and breathtakingly real.”

The two displays boast these capabilities even as they bear an eco-friendly design and deliver an excellent energy efficiency, for power savings of 73.6% ( G610HDPL) and 62.7% (G610HDAL), compared with CCFL monitors of similar size. Both displays are also built with mercury-free components and are RoHS, Energy STAR 5.0 and EuP Energy certified. As such, office, education and home users will definitely have reason to see these two displays as good purchases, especially considering the added benefits of comfort they bring. Unlike CCFL screens, the LED is a stable, flicker-free light source, enabling a comfortable long-term viewing, regardless of content. The G610HDPL differs from its sibling through its glare panel.

As more specific details go, the monitors have a resolution of 1366 x 768, a response time of 8ms, D-Sub connectivity and a built-in power supply. In addition, their actual power consumption is of 15.5W for the G610HDAL (8.2W in Eco mode) and of 12W for th G610HDPL (with only 5.8W in Eco mode). They are available in Latin America and the Middle East and additional information on both of the products may be found on the company's official website.
