That much-talked about Lance Armstrong biopic, which has been in the works ever since he admitted on Oprah Winfrey that he’d been doping since the mid-‘90s, has finally found its lead in Ben Foster.

Us Weekly confirms the casting news, adding that Stephen Frears will direct. The film is based on the book “Seven Deadly Sins: My Pursuit of Lance Armstrong” by journalist David Walsh, who was instrumental in the former’s fall from grace.

Chris O'Dowd plays Walsh, while other members of the cast include Jesse Plemons, most recently seen as super creepy Todd on “Breaking Bad,” and Guillaume Canet.

“The biopic will encompass the timeline from Armstrong's diagnosis of testicular cancer in the '90s to his meteoric rise as a superstar athlete, and ultimately to his downfall following a massive doping scandal that peaked in 2012,” the celebrity publication writes.

“Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles last year following an in-depth investigation by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, with Walsh playing a hefty role in the athlete's demise,” adds the report.

At one point, Bradley Cooper was linked to the Armstrong role, but he denied having even a remote interest in it.
