Ben Affleck is a happily married man and proud daddy of three, but he still has a place in his heart for his ex, Jennifer Lopez, as he admits in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Speaking with the magazine to promote his new movie “Argo,” Affleck admits that, even though they called off their wedding right before the big day, he and Jennifer are still in touch.

However, it’s not the kind of relationship that would make their respective partners (Jennifer Garner and Casper Smart, respectively) lose sleep at night, he’s quick to add.

“We don’t have the kind of relationship where she relies on me for advice, but we do have the kind of relationship where there’ll be an e-mail saying, ‘Oh, your movie looks great’,” Affleck says.

“I remember when she got American Idol. I said: ‘This was really smart. Good luck.’ I touch base. I respect her. I like her. She’s put up with some stuff that was unfair in her life, and I’m really pleased to see her successful,” Ben, half of the infamous couple Bennifer, says for the publication.

While he has nothing but kind words for his ex, he’s double the sweetness when it comes to his current partner, Jennifer Garner, to whom he’s been married for 7 years, making one of the most enduring and adorable couples in showbiz.

“She truly is kind. She means no one any harm. She doesn’t have ill will for any person. She’s not competitive with other people. She’s not spiteful,” Ben gushes.

“It’s one of those things where it becomes almost aggravating at times. Every time I go, ‘[Expletive] him!’ I see in her face that she just thinks that’s petty and small,” he adds.

In the same interview, Affleck also talks about how becoming a father changed him and the way in which he works, and how having a family is a blessing he wouldn’t trade for anything in the world.
