We already reported yesterday that Bell Canada planned to release the Galaxy S II HD LTE, as the smartphone is listed on the carrier’s site with the “Coming Soon” tag attached.

Today, Bell and Samsung have come forward with an official announcement confirming the upcoming availability of the Galaxy S II HD LTE.

The carrier does not reveal any details regarding the phone’s pricing options and availability, Bell Canada mentions that the phone will be available exclusively through its official retail stores “in coming weeks.”

Although the smartphone will be delivered with Android 2.3 Gingerbread at launch, Bell confirms that an Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update will be available “in coming months.”

Dubbed “the only Galaxy S II device to feature dual-core processing, 4G LTE and an HD display,” the handset comes with dual cameras: 8-megapixel rear photo snapper with autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording and 2-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.

The Galaxy S II has proven to be one of the most popular devices available anywhere. With the addition of a crystal clear HD Super AMOLED display and blazing fast 4G LTE, this already amazing superphone just got better,” said Adel Bazerghi, senior vice president of Products at Bell Mobility.

Initially launched in South Korea, Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE is equipped with a powerful 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 Snapdragon processor, which is complemented by an Adreno 220 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

The smartphone comes with only 16GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 32GB via microSD memory card.

Samsung mentions that the Galaxy S II HD LTE is shipped with a free 8GB memory card in the sales package, but this information has yet to be confirmed by Bell Canada.

The Samsung Galaxy S II has seen tremendous sales success worldwide, selling over 10 million units in 10 months. We are thrilled that Bell customers will soon be able to experience the power of HD LTE on the best-selling Samsung Galaxy S II,” said Paul Brannen, vice president, Mobile Communications, Samsung Electronics Canada.
