Canadian wireless carrier Bell has just made available for purchase a new handset running under Google's Android operating system, namely the Motorola DEXT. The handset, which is already available in various markets around the world (and can be purchased in the US as Motorola CLIQ), was previously said to come to Bell in the first half of the ongoing year, and it seems that the carrier decided it was high time it made it available.

Those Canadian mobile phone users interested in purchasing this Android-based phone that sports Motorola's MOTOBLUR solution can do straight from the carrier's website. The Motorola DEXT is listed there with a price tag of $79.95 attached to it in case one chooses to commit to a three-year contract agreement with Bell, yet it can be purchased without a contract too, case in which one would have to pay $399.95 for it.

The Motorola DEXT arrives in Canada as a touchscreen device boasting a 3.1-inch display, which has been coupled with a side sliding full QWERTY keyboard. The handset runs under Google's Android 1.5 operating system (with the MOTOBLUR UI thrown over it) and sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a nice range of connectivity options, including Wi-Fi, 3G, 3.5mm headphone jack, and built-in GPS receiver.

While the Motorola DEXT is now available at Bell (it can be seen on its website here), Canadian users should soon be able to choose another Android-based handset from the carrier. According to the latest rumors around the Internet, the wireless services provider is getting ready to add the HTC Legend to its lineup, with a possible release date being set for June 11. Powered by the Android 2.1 operating system and sporting the HTC Sense user experience, the handset is one of the latest Android smartphones HTC pushed to the market, and is expected to come with a rather affordable price tag attached to it. An official announcement on the matter still has to emerge.
