Samsung Canada confirmed earlier it would start the rollout of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for several Galaxy family devices this week.

The South Korean handset maker mentioned that the update would be available on April 30 on select devices in Canada and would continue to roll out to devices and carriers by the end of Q2 2012.

However, no device received the promised update and no details on any release dates have been leaked online until today.

Although Samsung stated that “the availability and scheduling of the software upgrade and specific models upgradable to Android 4.0 will vary by market and wireless carriers’ requirements,” we’ve got new info on the long-anticipated update for Galaxy S II.

The guys over at MobileSyrup got their hands on an internal document, which confirms Bell Canada plans to deploy Android 4.0 ICS for Samsung Galaxy S II beginning May 3.

Bell is pleased to announce Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now available for Samsung Galaxy S II. Bell is first carrier in Canada to release this major OS update to our clients. It is recommended that clients update their device to the latest version of software to ensure the best possible experience.”

Aside from Galaxy S II, the following devices are scheduled to receive the Android 4.0 ICS upgrade by the end of Q2 2012: Galaxy S II LTE, Galaxy S II LTE HD, Galaxy S II X, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.0, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1.

For the time being, Bell Canada is the only carrier that unofficially confirms the upcoming release of the Android 4.0 ICS update for Galaxy S II, but we expect other carriers to deploy the upgrade for their variants as well, including Rogers, TELUS and SaskTel.
