After getting millions of people hooked on the Bejeweled 3 experience last year, PopCap is now getting ready to debut the digital edition of the game for the PlayStation 3 via the PlayStation Network.

Bejeweled 3 brought forth an array of impressive improvements over its predecessors at the end of 2010, when it appeared on the PC.

Since then, developer PopCap has brought the experience onto all sorts of platforms, from the PlayStation 3, to the Xbox 360, as well as to a variety of handheld devices, including the iOS or Nintendo 3DS.

Now, after already appearing as a retail game for the PS3, PopCap will release Bejeweled 3 as a downloadable game via the PlayStation Store.

As such, owners of Sony’s home console will be able to download the game later today, when it becomes available.

Included in this version of Bejeweled 3 are quite a few things and even special trophies and badges that you can unlock, so check some of them out below.

8 modes of play, including: Classic (regular Bejeweled, but now better-looking!) Quest (kind of like an RPG, minus the characters, story, dialog, or combat, or anything else RPG-related. But there are 40 puzzles to solve!) Zen (You can’t lose! Be happy! You are your own shiny gem!) Lightning (a fast, time-based game kind of like Bejeweled Blitz) Four more “secret modes” of play that you can unlock

12 trophies and 20 badges to collect Right now, Bejeweled 3 is expected to appear on the North American PlayStation Store later today, when Sony executes its regular update.

While it’s not official just yet, European PS3 owners can expect to download Bejeweled 3 from their own version of the PS Store sometime tomorrow, as part of their own regular content update. Look forward to a confirmation soon enough.
