Back in January 2011, PopCap teased Android fans with a couple of shots of Plants vs. Zombies and Peggle games running on the Nexus One Android-powered smartphone

After previously announcing in November 2010 that it is working on Android versions for some its popular arcade games available on PC, such as Bejeweled 2, Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle and Chuzzle, PopCap is now releasing their first title for Android devices.

Unfortunately, it took the company more than one month since the first shots with two of its games have been leaked on the Internet.

PopCap made the following announcements in January:

- Bejeweled 2 will debut this week; - Plants vs. Zombies, Peggle and Chuzzle are on track to release in the second quarter of 2011; - We don't plan to use OpenFeint at this point, instead we will more likely use Facebook Connect.

However, the company hasn't been too accurate with the launch date of their Android game Bejeweled 2, which was expected to be released last month.

Just like the PC version of game, players will have to match three sparkling gems at a time to make them burst and win points.

If more gems are matched, players will be able to create powerful gems with special abilities that will boost the score and clean the display much faster.

There are four available modes in Bejeweled 2 for Android: Classic mode, Action mode, Puzzles mode and Zen mode. Each has its own features and requirements and has been especially designed to meet every player's needs.

Bejeweled 2 for Android is available for download from Android Market for $2.99. No trial version is offered, but the game does not offer anything new compared with the PC version.

We're hoping that the developer will be able to release the rest of the games according to its schedule.
