Once again Indian handset makers unveil a cheap Android tablet that could match lots of other Android budget-friendly smartphones manufactured by well-known companies, such as Samsung, LG or HTC.

The new Magiq Glide tablet launched by Beetel is now available for purchase in India for a suggested retail price of Rs 11,999 (230 USD or 170 EUR). Major retailers Letsbuy is offering the slate for the same price and seems to have it in stock.

Unfortunately, the Magiq Glide is at big disadvantage in comparison with other 7-inchers, as the tablet comes with Android 2.2 Froyo on board.

This is the third tablet launched by regional handset manufacturer Beetel, well-known for its Magiq tablet that was released on the market a while back.

In fact, the Magiq Glide seems to be a slightly upgraded version of the original Magiq. However, the only upgrade is the capacitive touchscreen display, which replaced the resistive one that was embedded within the original Magiq tablet.

Other than that the Magiq Glide doesn’t come up with anything new, so if you are one of the owners of the original Magiq there is no point in paying such an amount for the upgraded version.

The Magiq Glide is the latest addition to our successful Magiq range of tablets. The new tablet has all the features available in our previous products which our customers liked and additionally we have added a capacitive touch screen to enrich the touch experience,” said Vinod Sawhny, CEO, Beetel Teletech.

Magiq Glide comes with a 7-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen display and is powered by a 2200 mAh Li-Ion battery, which provides up to 60 hours of standby time.

On the inside, the slate is equipped with a 1 GHz single core processor, 8 GB of internal memory, as well as microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 16GB).

It is also worth mentioning that the Magiq Glide comes with dual 2-megapixel cameras, one in the back and a secondary one in the front, which is perfect for video calls.
