We have seen a lot of tablets arrive with larger screen factors and Samsung has topped it all when it launched the 12.2-inch Galaxy NotePRO and TabPRO. But in order to take advantage of these devices to their full potential, adopters would have to use the device in concert with a keyboard folio.

Most keyboard docks and folios we have seen so far try to mimic the functionality of laptops. But the next accessory we’re going to be talking about pushes the limits beyond.

The Qwerkywriter keyboard for tablets is a true hipster tool, because unlike what you have ever seen before, it has been designed to look like a typewriter. Yes, you've read it right, the kind of typewriter maybe your granddad used to have.

So if you have a tablet, you will be able to snap it onto this corky looking keyboard and type away like you were living in the ‘50s.

The device is actually a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Blue switches that replicate the sounds an original typewriter would make. So if you were hoping for a silent keyboard companion, this is not the case.

Qwerkywriter is a project living on Kickstarter, where it has been gathering funds that will allow the team behind the project to make every hipster out there happy.

Since its initiation, the campaign has been successful and the goal has been exceeded, so you can be pretty sure this accessory will become a reality.

So if you’re interested, prepare your wallet and it better be full. As any hipster-ish thing, the Qwerkywriter doesn't come cheap and it can be yours if you’re willing to make do without $250 / €184 in your pocket.

The Qwerkywriter doesn't play nice only with iPads, which usually get the cooler accessories, but with a variety of other tablet computers, since it is Bluetooth enabled. Moreover, you could use it in concert with your computer too, and it comes with support for Mac OS.

The accessory weighs around 3 lbs / 1.3 kg and its dimensions are approximately 12.5 x 7.5 x 3.5 inches / 32 x 19 x 9 cm.

Even if the Kickstarter funding goal has been meet, the creators of the keyboard are expecting producing all the necessary items will take some time, so expect to see the Qwerkywriter start shipping out to early pledgers starting August 2015. But if you want to make a fashion statement, you won’t mind waiting that long.
