That bear Grylls has made his fortune from his survival skills which he turned into incredible TV shows is beyond dispute. He is now going to take that expertize and turn it into thriller novels that are going to feature a character by the name of Dan Ranger.

According to Contactmusic, this extraordinary man who is an “ex-SAS, ecologist and adventurer extraordinaire,” so pretty much what Bear Grylls is in real life, is said to combine the “best of Bond, Bourne and Indiana Jones.”

While that sounds like a really big tall order for any writer, even the professional ones, but Bear seems to be excited about telling the stories that Dan Ranger is going to face in his first novel. He's already got the first book planned out.

It turns out that Ranger will “embark upon a ground-breaking expedition – one with quest-like, historical detective overtones – working out of his corporate and charitable headquarters aboard the MV Global Challenger.”

Grylls has authored books before, memoirs mostly, like “Mud, Sweat and Tears,” but it will be his first attempt at creative writing, so it will be interesting to see where he takes things. His publisher seems to think that he's going to do just fine, since it's already offered Grylls a one million pound contract.

We'll have to see what the general public makes of his Dan Ranger novels.
