Bear Breaks into Car near Lake Tahoe, Three Incidents Reported – Viral

Three bears have broken into cars in the small town of Truckee, California, and one of the incidents has been caught on camera.

The town is located near Lake Tahoe, and residents are used to the bears. Officials explains that the animals are drawn to the smell of food in the car.

“It's been a very dry season and the food source is scarce, so bears are getting a bit more courageous,” Captain Robert Leftwich of the Truckee Police Department tells the Huffington Post.

They get through the door, but sometimes get trapped inside and trash the vehicles. If the owners can be found, police open the doors and the bears make a run for it back to the woods.

The windows of the vehicles are smashed open to set them free, if the owners cannot be found.
