Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is a new real-time strategy game in the Warhammer universe, which has just been announced by Publisher Focus Home Interactive and Tindalos Interactive, makers of Stellar Impact and Etherium.

It’s an adaptation of an old tabletop miniatures game called Battlefleet Gothic that was released back in 1999. The action takes place in the Warhammer 40k universe and implies space-faring fleets battling each other for control of the Gothic Sector.

The official announcement mentions that the game will be a real-time strategy adaptation of Games Workshop's tabletop game for the PC, in which players will be given control over one of the four battlefleets composed of the most powerful spaceships from the Imperial, Chaos, Eldar and Ork forces.

It’s worth mentioning that the tabletop miniatures game originally had four fleet factions, but subsequent additions and expansion brought the game to 11 space fleets.

We’re not sure whether Tindalos plans on adding them as DLC or expansions later on, after the game is released, but here is a list of the space fleets that have been added to Battlefleet Gothic: Armada tabletop game over the years: Space Marines, Ork Waaagh!, Craftworld Eldar, Dark Eldar Raiders, Tau Empire, Tyranid Hive and Necron Raiders.

The game features deep management of every ship in the fleet and it's built in Unreal Engine 4

However, we do know for sure that the PC game will allow players to micro-manage every ship composing their controlled fleet, both during and between battles.

Each fleet will have their unique frigates, battleships and other types of spaceships, which players will be able to customize in all aspects: weaponry, defense and support sub-systems.

Obviously, depending on how you customize them, your ships might perform much better and their special abilities during battles will be more powerful.

As you win battles, the crew on your ships will gain experience and promotions, thus improving the battle-readiness of the ship for future, larger and more dangerous battles.

No word on release date yet, but more info on Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is expected to be available soon. Stay tuned for more on this adaptation of a tabletop miniatures game to PC.
