There are still some stand-out looks to try out

The development team at Visceral Games might still be working on the core mechanics of the upcoming Battlefield: Hardline, but it seems that those who are looking for extensive customization options in the new first-person shooter will be disappointed, as the studio is planning to keep things as close to the real world as possible.

An official Twitter message from the game’s account shows the leading multiplayer designer explaining that there are no plans to give players options to swap parts of the character models they are using.

Basically, customization will be limited to color changes, although even those are rather limited in scope.

Visceral Games team explains that no full pink outfits will be introduced, although it seems that there will be ways to make a character stand out in the multiplayer component of Battlefield: Hardline, if that is what a gamer wants.

The trend for the first-person genre has been to increase customization in recent years, but the franchise from Electronic Arts has always focused on realism and that means it needs to make sure that the multiplayer combat does not descent into farce.

Battlefield: Hardline needs to be solid on launch

The new shooter that Visceral Games is creating with the full collaboration of DICE was supposed to appear in the fall of last year, as a direct competitor for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, the very successful title from Activision and Sledgehammer Games.

Concerns about quality generated by players’ feedback during the beta period forced Electronic Arts to announce a delay and to explain that it would try to deliver more detailed options for each of the included factions.

Since then, Visceral Games has not offered too many details on the changes it is making.

Battlefield: Hardline needs to offer solid quality on launch, which means both interesting modes and maps for the community to enjoy and an infrastructure which will allow gamers to quickly find matches.

The game is expected to be launched on March 17 in North America and on March 19 in Europe on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and last-gen consoles.
