The team has also tried to make them authentic

Battlefield Hardline is getting ready for its full launch after a final open beta period, but the team at Visceral Games still has plenty of secrets about the content of the coming shooter that it has not shared with the community yet, with some of them hidden in concept art showed for the first time.

Ian Milham, a creative director working on the title, is interviewed by the official Electronic Arts site and explains that the art style was very important for the development process and that plenty of secrets are packed into every map in order to offer rewards for players who spend the energy to explore them.

The game maker explains that "We were looking at a lot of Michael Mann movies (Heat, Collateral, Thief, Miami Vice), which have a lot of graphic simplicity and cinematic framing. For tone and vibe, Elmore Leonard was a big influence, and the works which have come from his books (Justified, Out of Sight, Jackie Brown, etc.)."

Milham also offers some insight into how hard it is to deliver realistic maps, especially for a game that aims to create a dynamic but believable experience.

The Visceral Games developer also says that most of the graffiti included in the game is based on real world designs and aims to be authentic, while also containing a range of in-jokes and references to the game team that put Battlefield Hardline together.

Battlefield Hardline introduces a new take on the franchise

The title Visceral Games is working on was initially criticized by fans for moving away from the military theme of the franchise, and their criticism and concerns over quality after the first testing period led to its delay from the autumn of 2014.

Now, Battlefield Hardline is set to arrive on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, the PC and last-gen consoles on March 17 in the United States and on March 19 in Europe.

Visceral Games says that the game will focus on offering a faster experience than its predecessor, with a wide range of weapons and gadgets that can be accessed quickly based on cash rather than a progression system.

The biggest concern of the community at the moment is that a number of network issues observed in the most recent beta of Battlefield Hardline will not be solved in time for launch and will affect multiplayer quality.
