The development team at DICE has made the new Commander Mode one of the central features during its promotional efforts for the new Battlefield 4 and the studio is eager to make sure that players can access it from a variety of devices.

Patrick Bach, and executive producer at the company, tells the official Xbox One site that, “not only will Commander Mode be playable on Xbox One and Xbox 360, but for the first time players will have the ability to play as a Commander on their tablets via an internet connection. This gives our players the opportunity to play Battlefield 4 even when they are not in front of their Xbox One and Xbox 360.”

Battlefield 4 is an ambitious multiplayer shooter, which will deliver 64-player battles running at 60 FPS on all the platforms on which it launches, with more tactical options and environment destruction possibilities.

Commander Mode is designed to enhance battles between well-organized teams, with players able to deploy a strategic interface to use a variety of assets that can protect their teammates and help them on the offensive.

Bach adds, “We redesigned Commander Mode with a focus on intelligent warfare and enhancing the Commander vs. Commander experience. This means players on the ground will reap the rewards from their Commander doing the right things such as outsmarting their opponent using UAV’s, countering EMP strikes, etc.”

Commander Mode was missing from Battlefield 3 and fans have been eager to see it return in the new installment of the shooter.

Battlefield 4 will be initially available on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC on October 29 in the United States and on November 1 in Europe.

Versions of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One will be offered in November, when the new consoles are out.
