Video game developer DICE says that the Battlelog service will be better integrated in Battlefield 4 in order to give players an improved social experience while never interfering with their first-person shooter multiplayer gameplay.

In an official blog post, the studio states, "we’ve placed a widget in the top right corner of your interface, where you can see how many of your friends are currently playing BF4 or how many active Missions you have available(a new feature where you can create new challenges for you and your friends)."

The system is designed to deliver notifications for events like invites to Missions, a friend joining a server or the moment a player performs better in a mission.

Hardcore players who want to just focus on the Battlefield 4 shooter experience can always simply hide the new widget.

DICE says that the Battlelog interface has also been enhanced in order to give gamers more information and improve their entire experience.

They add, "You can see what your friends are doing, check their stats and join their game. You can also see who is in your squad when playing multiplayer and look up their profile. Maybe you want to check your standings on the Geo Leaderboards, or create a Mission. It’s all available at any time during the game."

Battlelog was initially introduced for Battlefield 3 and the community has reacted positively to the features that the service is offering.

The feature has since also been offered for other titles published by Electronic Arts.

DICE says that Battlefield 4, powered by the new Frostbite 3 engine, will offer both an emotional single-player campaign and a set of new multiplayer mechanics, optimized for 64-player matches.

The game will be launched on October 29 in North America and on November 1 in Europe, on the PC and home consoles.
