The development team at DICE is continuing to offer more details about the Spring Patch that it is planning to launch for Battlefield 4 and the company says that there are five new weapons that all gamers will be able to use once it is deployed.

An official announcement explains that the studio has settled on a mixture of old favorites and unique gameplay mechanics for the five new additions.

They are:

New fan-favorite Assault Rifle - Picked based on its unique burst gameplay and massive fan desirability

New Carbine - A unique bullpup carbine with built-in vertical grip

New PDW - A unique PDW with built-in silencer

New Sidearm - Unique long range “sniper” sidearm using magnum rounds

New LMG - Magazine fed LMG, which with the new weapons balance, plays in between a belt-fed LMG and an AR – your “run and gun” LMG

The new firepower will be welcomed by fans of Battlefield 4, but the studio is not stopping here and is also planning to tweak the capabilities of all other weapons included in the first-person shooter, making sure that the entire ecosystem is well balanced.

The stated aim is to make sure that each class has a clear role in combat.

The actual skill of players will become more important as recoil is increased, and the two bullet headshot is re-introduced to Battlefield 4.

At the moment, the balance for the Spring Patch is tested on the CTE and interested gamers can get on those servers in order to play and then offer feedback on the changes made.

Gun Master is also returning to Battlefield 4

DICE is also introducing a Gun Master mode to the shooter, which was seen as an interesting diversion by fans of previous titles in the series.

The experience is like a Team Deathmatch, with the weapons used changed after two consecutive kills are made on an opponent.

The victor is the gamer who manages to get to the final weapon in the progression and deliver two kills with it.

There are five presents for Gun Master in Battlefield 4, offering gamers choices when it comes to the types of weapons included, with no more than 18 of them to get through.

DICE also wants to improve stability for the shooter on all platforms and to improve the netcode to make sure that gamers have a smoother experience.

Patch notes for the Spring update will be delivered close to launch date, which has not yet been decided.
