The Final Stand will not be the game's last expansion

In a surprising move, developer DICE announced plans for another expansion for its smash hit Battlefield 4. Unfortunately, the announcement looks more like a teaser, empty of any real information that could shed some light on what's to come.

DICE recently released what many believed to be the last expansion for Battlefield 4, The Final Stand. However, regardless of what impressions the name of the last DLC could give you, The Last Stand will be just another expansion for Battlefield 4 and in no way the last one.

According to DICE, “with Battlefield 4 Final Stand released, we hope and believe that you will enjoy it together with the rest of the game for a long time. However, there is one thing we want to assure you: there is more content coming for Battlefield 4.”

Although cryptic, the announcement confirms that Battlefield 4 players should expect more content to come their way sooner than they might have expected.

The team behind Battlefield 4 also stated that more details on the new content, as well as info on when it should arrive, would be unveiled “in the near future.”

The announcement is even more teasing, as DICE says that while they understand that this will definitely lead to even more questions (duh!) about their plans, players should “rest assured that we'll get back to you on the future of Battlefield 4 when the time is right.”

DICE asks fans which Battlefield classic map they would like to see being re-created within Battlefield 4

So, when is the time right? According to DICE, it's not now, but it could be “in the near future.” It may be that DICE is finally seriously thinking to bring some Battlefield classic maps within the Battlefield 4 universe?

Is this the new content that DICE may now be working on? Because that could explain the poll proposed by the studio regarding the Battlefield classic map they would like to see being re-created into Battlefield 4.

On a side note, DICE mentions that fans can vote on several maps from multiple Battlefield games, which raises the possibility of having more than one Battlefield classic map re-created in the latest installment of the series.

Obviously, this is just an assumption so take it with a pinch of salt until the good folks at DICE make it official. Anyway, we would like to know your opinions on what the new content for Battlefield 4 could be, so don't hesitate to leave your comments in the section below.

Oh, and while at it don't forget to check out our Battlefield 4 review.
