Weapons in Battlefield 4's multiplayer mode will feature adaptive camouflage that will change the colors of the gun to better match the ones from the actual level, in order to avoid the custom camo from drawing unwanted attention.

Battlefield 4 is set to deliver an impressive experience later this year, and developer DICE has confirmed quite a few things about its multiplayer mode, arguably the most important part of the whole game.

After confirming quite a few details about the huge weapon customization options in the upcoming title, DICE has now presented a set of fresh info about the actual camouflage for the firearms used by the player.

These will be classified into different categories, and there will be plenty of variations for each of them, according to a post on the Battlefield blog.

"In Battlefield 4 we’ve greatly increased the number of camos you can choose from, and divided them into different sections including Autumn, Desert, Naval, Snow, Urban and Woodland. These paints will in turn come in 16 different pattern variations each," the studio said.

What's more, as an all-new feature, Battlefield 4's multiplayer will have adaptive camouflages that, as their name suggests, will examine the main colors of the level and change the hues seen on the weapon.

"Not only are you able to choose dozens of paints, we’re also introducing something new: adaptive camouflages. With one of these equipped, the paint adapts to the environment in the level you’re playing."

"Fighting at sea on the Paracel Storm map, the adaptive camo will make you blend in with the blues, greys and greens on the level. If you were to bring the same adaptive camo to a more urban map like Siege of Shanghai, the camo would be more grey/black in tone when you spawn into the map."

Battlefield 4 is set to be released in October for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and in November for PS4 and Xbox One.
