The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts announce that they are launching a series of special events for their shooter Battlefield 4, called Battlefest, which is designed to deliver rewards to players while encouraging them to take part in contests and enjoy new in-game content.

The official announcement explains that "Battlefest is just a small token of our appreciation and commitment to Battlefield 4. In addition to this, we have DICE teams in Stockholm and LA continually working on improving the gameplay experience, adding new initiatives like the CTE environment, and also developing the next two expansions packs, with Battlefield 4 Dragon’s Teeth releasing next week for Battlefield 4 Premium members."

On July 12 and 13, all those who log into the multiplayer modes of Battlefield 4 will get double experience, which gives players a big incentive to log back into the first-person shooter.

At the same time, the team at DICE is introducing a new daily contest called Battleshots, which is designed to encourage players to send in screenshots from the title on a given theme.

The winning entry will get an AMD-made graphics card, 50 dollars or Euro as a gift to spend in the official DICE store, and a membership for the Battlefield 4 Premium service.

As part of Battlefest, the studio is also introducing free camo unlocks, which will be offered weekly to gamers, and double XP at certain points.

Each week, gamers will also get a community-based mission with a special goal that will unlock a free gold Battlepack for all players when achieved.

The first of them will be activated on July 15, when the new Dragon's Teeth downloadable content is launched for Premium members, and will ask gamers to get to 15 million revives in Battlefield 4 across all platforms before the end of July 20.

The final activity is linked to video clips and DICE adds, " This is a month long contest where we are asking you to send us your best stunt video that can only be done in Battlefield 4. Once we receive the submissions, the DICE team will pick the top 12 and then you, the fans, will vote on the top three winners to win a massive prize. Official announcement to come."

More details about Battlefest activities will be offered in the coming 30-day period, as DICE seeks to thank gamers who are supporting the shooter.
