The team at DICE working on Battlefield 4 announces that it has delivered an update for the Commander App that accompanies the first-person shooter on iPads and on Android-powered tablets, designed to improve the overall player experience.

The main changes, introduced in a much larger official announcement that features developer statements, are:

Squad Member Visibility: You will now be able to see the player names and kits of players in a squad when it is selected VOIP visibility: You will now be able to tell which player in a squad is talking to you through VOIP Issuing orders to a squad now shows the position of all squad members while you are dragging out the order You can now drop squad assets (such as promotions) directly on the squad list If you have an XP boost active, the scoring for this will now be more visible in the UI Lots of bug fixes and stability improvements

Those who use the Commander application for Battlefield 4 can select the server to view, monitor the performance of matches, talk with their teammates although that feature is not offered on the Xbox One, view global chat and explore the various statistics associated with the game.

DICE has created the app in order to make sure that the most dedicated players of the first-person shooter are able to stay connected to it even when they are on the move.

The studio will continue to update the experience based on the feedback that is delivered by the gamer community, improving the companion app in the coming months.

At the moment, the team is also working hard to make sure that it manages to launch the Xbox One and the PC versions of the Naval Strike downloadable content in early April, which implies dealing with at least one major bug.

The content is already delivered on all other platforms on which Battlefield 4 is offered and allows gamers to enjoy four new maps and the Carrier Assault mode, inspired by Battlefield 2142.

The DICE-made shooter is set to get another two DLC packs in the coming months, which are at the moment in development at the Los Angeles studio.

It is widely believed that the Stockholm studio has moved its resources to a new project, which some rumors suggest is a new Bad Company title that will be launched in the fall of this year.
