Developer DICE has revealed some of the things that are coming to Battlefield 4 in the big fall patch scheduled to drop on all platforms later on.

Battlefield 4 had a rather disastrous launch, but the developers have been struggling to improve the game ever since, making steady progress, especially by means of the ongoing community testing program that enables willing users to be more involved in testing out the new features and providing useful feedback.

According to a new post on the Battlefield blog, the studio is about to release the patch very soon, and the certification process is underway on several platforms, targeting a launch at the end of the month.

What's coming to Battlefield 4

The full patch notes are not yet up, but DICE has said that they will be posted soon, in order to give players the full scoop on the fall update, but the studio has provided a list of highlights, touching on the most important improvements.

The developer worked on a lot of areas, bringing revisions to most of the game's fundamental systems, impacting movement, recoil, and updating the title's netcode, as well as implementing some of the popular requests from the community.

Player movement will be almost identical to Battlefield 3 movement, and there will be lower third-person hit reactions for player head impact. In addition to this, revives will be much more robust and easier to understand, with new UI art and "fully charged" paddle sound.

The heads-up display will be decluttered and customizable to some extent, enabling gamers to make Battlefield 4 look the way they want to through a plethora of UI options.

Players will get a few new game modes, and the netcode has been revised to make playing online more enjoyable and provide less frustrating gameplay when high pings are involved, including behind cover kills and the like.

Furthermore, close- and medium-range sight reticles will no longer be affected by visual recoil, making the weapon firing animation more accurate.

There will also be a lot of changes made to weapons and attachments, which will be detailed at a later date.

Future updates

In addition to providing an outline of the fall patch, DICE has also mentioned some of the things that are targeted by subsequent patches.

"The new Teamplay Initative on the CTE, which will be implemented in our coming releases, will focus on the teamplay aspects of Battlefield 4. Our goal is to improve, simplify, and make playing the objective (PTFO) more rewarding than it has ever been," the developer writes.

Some of the things DICE is aiming to touch on are objective scoring rebalancing, health and ammo pack rebalance, fixing the neutral and friendly roadkills exploit, some footprint sound and callouts improvements, as well as making spotting at a distance more precise.
