Battlefield 3, one of the most expected first-person shooters of the year, has just received quite a few interesting details, as well as a leaked teaser trailer.

UPDATE:
EA officially released the teaser trailer for Battlefield 3, which you can check out at its own website.

Battlefield 3, coming from Electronic Arts' DICE studio, is its big bet in terms of shooters this year, and will go head to head against Activision's all but confirmed new Call of Duty title.

Up until now, however, very little was known about the game, with DICE and EA keeping a tight lid on things, thus leaving the door wide open for rumors and speculation.

Now, it seems that the official reveal is extremely close, but until then, a couple of teasers have already appeared.

First, the newest issue of GameInformer dedicates its full cover to Battlefield 3, showing just what might be the actual cover of the future game.

As you can see, the cover is quite similar to the one seen in the previous Battlefield game, Bad Company 2, but does reflect a more gritty approach to warfare than the tongue in cheek one seen in the last game.

The background of the image also offers quite a few details about the destructible environments, which are a trademark of the shooter franchise, while GameInformer says that the title will deliver "an exponential leap in destructibility."

The magazine also mentions that Battlefield 3 will be filled with brand new technological advancements, partly because it is based on DICE's new Frostbite 2 game engine, and was helped by "a new animation system borrowed from the EA Sports label."

Secondly, a new teaser trailer was leaked onto the web just a few hours ago, showing, in a rather dramatic way, the core principle of Battlefield 3, which is shooting and destroying things in order to stay alive.

Radio chatter denotes that you'll be playing as some sort of military troop, while the destruction of a helicopter with a missile confirms that you'll be once more piloting all sorts of vehicles throughout the game, on land or air, another classic trademark of the Battlefield series.
