DICE is closer to fixing these older issues that are still plaguing PS3 users

DICE has once again talked about the problems encountered by Battlefield 3 owners on the PlayStation 3 platform, saying that the voice chat and the input lag issues will be addressed soon enough, right before the Close Quarters expansion is launched, in June.

Battlefield 3 delivered an intense experience last year across the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, but owners of the Sony home console were met with quite a few annoying issues, including one relating to the voice chat and a bit of lag when inputting commands with the controller.

DICE promised several times that these issues would be solved but, after many updates, the problems still persist, much to the chagrin of PS3 Battlefield 3 owners.

DICE CEO Patrick Bach talked about these issues with CVG and emphasized that DICE was making an array of improvements to the game.

"First of all, just because it's in a forum doesn't make it our top priority. There are things that we've been fixing that have been way, way worse than the things you've brought up, and we have to make decisions on fixing the most important things first."

DICE has analyzed both the voice chat issues and the input lag extensively and solutions are set to arrive soon enough, according to Bach.

"[Input lag] has been a really hard thing for us to fix, but in the Close Quarters expansion pack we're actually fixing it. I didn't want to bring it up as a feature, but we are improving it quite significantly, and hopefully players who have felt it before will feel the difference, that it feels much snappier and gives better feedback, so we're definitely listening."

In terms of voice chat, a solution that will eliminate the problem for good might finally appear soon enough.

"And on the voice chat functionality, we've been working on it and I think we'll probably have the perfect solution very, very soon. It's very hard to fix between the combination of the built-in systems and our systems, and it's not that easy to just make it a priority over everything else because it will affect the rest of the game."

There’s still no word when these solutions will appear, but it’s nice to hear that DICE isn’t ignoring these pretty serious issues.
