DICE and Electronic Arts have posted the first details about the upcoming Aftermath expansion for Battlefield 3, which is set to appear after next month’s Armored Kill add-on.

Battlefield 3 was launched late last year and, despite its age, it is still quite popular, thanks to its addictive multiplayer mode, which was enhanced by developer DICE through several expansions, including Back to Karkand and Close Quarters.

Now, just as the studio is putting the finishing touches on next month’s Armored Kill DLC, DICE has posted the first details about the next big expansion – Aftermath.

Like previous DLC packs, Aftermath brings four new maps, this time featuring urban environments that have been ravaged by a massive earthquake. Check out the expansion’s description below.

“Set amongst the shattered districts, streets and surrounding villages of a post-earthquake Tehran Battlefield 3: Aftermath depicts a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation,” the description reads.

“With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.”

Plenty of new things are included in the add-on, from the four multiplayer maps, to special vehicles, a new game mode and, of course, fresh assignments to complete, so check them out below.

Key Features: - Urban warfare on four new maps - Fight through the dust and rubble, use the earthquake damaged terrain to your tactical advantage - New heavily modified military and civilian vehicles – ingenuity and firepower combined - New game mode - New assignments, achievements and dog tags As of yet, no other details are known, but you can expect to hear more once Armored Kill is released in August. In case you want access to all the expansions, not to mention other exclusive bonuses, you can get the Battlefield Premium DLC bundle right now on PC, PS3, or Xbox 360.
