Paradox Interactive and Nitro Games are announcing that they are planning to release an add-on for East India Company that is called Battle of Trafalgar. The new content will arrive on December 8, exclusively via digital download, for the price of 9.99 dollars. Players will have to own East India Company and have it installed in order to be able to play the new content.

The Battle of Trafalgar add on is set to introduce players to one of the biggest and most important naval battles of the XIX century. The engagement took place in late 1805, just as Europe was ravaged by the Napoleonic Wars. The opposing sides were the British, lead by Admiral Lord Nelson, and a coalition of the French and Spanish. The battle was a decisive one as the British navy, although outnumbered, managed not to lose one single ship as it sent 22 of the vessels of the other side to the bottom of the sea.

The videogame version of the battle will allow players to manage either of the two sides with all the implicated ships fully simulated and with all the commanders who have taken part in the battle, like Nelson and French Admiral Pierre Villeneuve and Spanish Admiral Federico Gravina, getting various traits which will influence the course of the battle. The Artificial Intelligence of East India Company is also set to play the battle as close to history as possible, with the player able to simulate the tactics of Nelson to lead the English to victory.

East India Company was released earlier this year and it aimed to simulate the complex economic and political aspects of trading with the Indies during the days of the British Empire. The initial release of the game proved to be a bit shallow, but since then Nitro and Paradox have improved the game via patches and a free add-on.
