System Monitor app looks after memory usage, battery life, and even battery health

You can be sure that whenever people report something wrong with their iPhones or iPads, someone will quickly jump to the rescue offering the “best solution” for fixing that particular problem.

Case in point, Tekton Technologies has just announced System Monitor – Battery Health, Free Memory, Used Space version 2.8 for iOS, a $0.99/€0.89 app described as “the comprehensive health check for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.”

Enjoying a great deal of popularity amid new battery drainage reports (like many other battery-saving apps on iTunes), System Monitor looks after things like memory in use (with the claimed ability to free up unused memory and speed up your handset), battery life, running processes, disk information, and even includes a “battery health” check.

Its developer says, “Now, the unique SPEEDOMETER APP for your iOS device, has been completely redesigned for iOS7 with its great look and feel, and ease of use.”

The battery view specifically shows the available battery life, how much time it will take to recharge it to 100%, and features LED-like indicators in green, yellow, and red to show you how much battery is available.

Its graphics are impressive, but you shouldn’t let that convince you that you need this app. Usually these “solutions” are nothing more than system monitoring tools that do little to nothing in the way of expanding memory, battery life, or storage, as some developers claim. However, you won’t know until you try it.

According to the marketing materials on sysmon.tektontek.com, “The System Monitor with Battery Max is the most comprehensive all in one health check app that frees memory, boosts battery performance, monitors your system memory, and disk utilization.”

“This app also lets you know about battery level, processes running in background, disk information that gives you information about total disk capacity and total disk space used and available, and device information such as device name, model, IP address, MAC address, and your device's unique id,” the developer adds.

Tekton Technologies claims that System Monitor’s Battery Max feature allows you to “enjoy the privilege of enhanced battery care for your iPhone/iPod battery,” and then goes on to describe the colorful graphics and other non-functional aspects of this feature.

In all fairness it’s likely that you won’t see much improvement in your mileage from this app, but if the marketing convinces you and you have a buck to spare, go right ahead and download System Monitor for your iDevice.
