14 DAY TRIAL // “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is scheduled for release on March 25, 2016, though the plan for Warner Bros. was initially to have it out in 2015. But what if the first “Justice League” film, which is what this is, will actually be split in two?
This is a common move with big film franchises, albeit one that’s usually reserved for the last installment, when nostalgia hits and the studios are going out of their way to capitalize on the popularity of a dying project. After all, who doesn’t like making double the money for the same amount of work / effort?
The same will be happen to “Batman V. Superman,” according to reports online.

If this is really true, then Warner Bros. is a master puppeteer. If this is really true, this could be the biggest surprise ever, one that was almost kept a secret until the last hour.
The photo below popped up online some hours ago: it is believed to have been snapped from a “Batman V. Superman” trailer, and it clearly announces 2 films instead of one, with the first one arriving in theaters this October.
“Batman V. Superman: Enter the Knight” would drop on October 23, and “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” would be out in March 2016, as we already knew.
From the purported title of the first film, it would help introduce the new Batman to audiences, the beaten and tired and so-not-into-it-anymore Bruce Wayne played by Ben Affleck. It would serve as the first “Justice League” movie but also as the stepping stone towards a rumored new “Batman” franchise, even though it’s only a couple of years that Warners closed the lid on Chris Nolan’s Batman trilogy, “The Dark Knight.”
Photo is suspicious, but this move wouldn’t really be that surprising
Trade publications are pointing out that the photo is at the very least suspicious because no one seems to be able to trace it to a reliable (or real) source. With a project as huge and as highly anticipated as this one, putting out a fake photo to spread ridiculous rumors wouldn’t even be that difficult.
However, it wouldn’t be that surprising if Warners really did release “Batman V. Superman” as 2 movies, since they probably have enough footage for that (the shoot lasted well over 10 months, which isn’t that common), enough financial backing for all the post-production work and a very good reason: who doesn’t want more (and easy) money?
If they do decide to do that, chances are that they will just dilute the story by stretching it out to cover 2 movies, like so many franchises have done whenever they split one film in 2 parts. Sure, that will upset fans, but they would still pay for a ticket so, in the end, the studio wins.
To end this on a very positive note, word online has it that the first actual “Batman V. Superman” teaser will be out next month, attached to “Jupiter Ascending.” Since Warners is refusing to comment on this rumor of making it into 2 movies, we’ll probably find out more about it then.
