We already know that Warner Bros. has huge plans for its Justice League film franchise, which was kicked off with “Man of Steel,” the Superman reboot, with Henry Cavill playing the famous superhero. Cavill will be reprising the role in the first Justice League installment, “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which comes out next year.

He hopes to wear the tights and cape and fight crime for “many, many years to come,” as he reveals in his new chats with the British media, on the red carpet at the BAFTAs 2015.

“A visual spectacle,” “cinematic history”

Not much is known about “Dawn of Justice” aside from the fact that it will be the first time the two iconic characters, Batman and Superman, appear together on the big screen. Of course, we also know that Zack Snyder returns as director and that Christopher Nolan will produce, and we know the entire cast, including Cavill, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor.

From leaked on-set photos and older interviews, we know that this Batman will be different from the one portrayed by Christian Bale in Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” trilogy, in that it will be an older, more disillusioned and tired version of the character.

Rumor has it that the film will make Superman into the bad guy, with Batman stepping up to the plate to punish him for the destruction he caused to the city in his final battle with General Zod at the end of “Man of Steel.”

Henry Cavill won’t say anything about the story, but he will say this: it’s bound to be one amazing, beautiful looking movie.

“It's Zack Snyder, so it's going to be a visual spectacle, and it's cinematic history. Fingers crossed it turns out to be as exciting as I think it is,” he says.

Henry Cavill isn’t going anywhere

On the same red carpet, the handsome Brit reveals that he has no immediate plans to hang up his cape and depart for more or less greener pastures, because he’s on board for the long run.

“I love the character. I love working with Warner Bros, and what they're doing with it, and so fingers crossed I'll be able to tell the story for many, many years to come,” he says with the utmost honesty.

Seeing how Warners is looking to turn the Justice League franchise into a worthy rival for Marvel’s Avengers, you can bet your last buck that Cavill isn’t going anywhere, especially not when he’s already been embraced by the wide public as Superman. “Man of Steel” might have upset many fans, but most of them found no fault with Cavill’s take on the character.

Besides “Dawn of Justice” and the following “Justice League” movie, Cavill has to do a sequel to “Man of Steel” and possible future cameos in other spinoffs. Let’s just say that his job is secure for at least 3 more years, unless “Dawn of Justice” falls short of even the most pessimistic expectations.
