The development team at Rocksteady, publisher Warner Bros. and platform holder Sony announce that the upcoming Batman: Arkham Knight will include a special mission, which will only be offered on the PlayStation 4 and which will ask the player to enter a nightmare version of the city of Gotham in order to face the Scarecrow in an all-new adventure.

The official site for the game states, “Gotham falls victim to Scarecrow's fear toxin, transforming the famous city into a twisted, hellish nightmare in the Batman: Arkham Knight Scarecrow Nightmare Pack.”

It adds, “Tear through the city in the all-new Batmobile and face off against a towering vision of Scarecrow and his undead army as they spread terror on the streets, available exclusively on PlayStation 4.”

The companies involved are not yet saying exactly when the new content will be accessible to those who get the Batman: Arkham Knight on the Sony next-gen console or how long the special mission will be.

The Scarecrow is the main villain of the upcoming game and he will work with the newly introduced Arkham Knight in order to defeat Batman.

Warner Bros. has not yet announced any exclusive content for the title on the Xbox One home console, but something might be revealed in the coming weeks.

The new game marks the return of original developer Rocksteady to the franchise and they claim that this is the final title in the series they are planning to work on.

The major new addition is the Batmobile, a vehicle that has two very different modes and allows gamers to use more options both when fighting enemies and when they are solving puzzles.

The city of Gotham is also bigger than ever before and players have a variety of new ways to explore it, with a focus on vertical movement.

The development team has also sought to make a number of improvements to the combat system of the series and say that players will be able to chain together more moves and take enemies out in innovative ways.

Batman: Arkham Knight was initially set to be launched in the fall of this year and will be offered on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PC.

A recent leak from the official Microsoft store suggested that the game might be delivered to players on February 24 of next year, but neither the publisher nor the developer has commented on it.
