Rocksteady, as the developer, and Warner Bros, as the publisher, have offered some new detail about their new Batman video game, called Arkham City, talking about how the city of Gotham will be featured in the experience and how the gameplay can include more details that the first title in the series.

The details are coming via the Official PlayStation Magazine in the United Kindom, which has a cover feature on Batman: Arkham City.

It seems that the game kicks off with Quincy Sharp, who was a director at the Arkham and has now moved on to the position of mayor of Gotham, has walled off sections of the city and filled them with criminals, in an effort to make sure that they do not overwhelm the entire metropolis.

The game are is said to be five times bigger than the entire Arkham Asylum and Batman seems to believe that the criminal sprawl will do little to stop criminals from preparing a strong base from which to assault and terrorize Gotham.

Game director Sefton Hill, says, “He’s been monitoring this place. He’s worried. He thinks it’s a time-bomb waiting to explode into the streets of Gotham.”

The bigger game area brings up the idea of whether vehicles, like the Batmobile and maybe a cycle, will be included in Arkham City.

When the magazine asked a public relations person from Warner said use of vehicles is “something we’ll cover at a later date.”

The developers at Rocksteady also seem to be hinting that Catwoman, which was early on confirmed to be part of the new game, will be controllable in a new cooperative mode, having similar abilities to Batman when it comes to moving around and surprising enemies.

Batman: Arkham City is set to arrive on the PC, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony at some point during the fall of 2011.
