That was quick: just days after Zack Snyder announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2013 last weekend that the sequel to “Man of Steel” would also feature Batman, speculation on the actor who might play him has reached a peak.

Christian Bale, who played the Caped Crusader in the three Chris Nolan movies, said right before the third one came out that he had no intention of revisiting the character without Nolan.

Nolan is definitely out of the picture as writer / director with the Superman sequel, believed to be called “Batman vs. Superman,” so it’s safe to assume Bale is too, much to the disappointment of his fans.

Comic Book News says that Snyder may have already found his man – and that he’s already screen testing for the part opposite the new Superman, Henry Cavill.

His name is Tyler Hoechlin and fans might remember him from “Teen Wolf” and “Seventh Heaven.”

“Warner Bros. and Snyder are looking at somebody to play the new Batman with a reputation similar to Cavill's, when Cavill was testing for Superman. It's also said that better known actors could also be testing for the role. As filming is expected to begin in early 2014, screen tests should be happening soon,” the publication says.

There’s more too: CBN writes that the first details of the plot have also emerged online.

“The sequel is set a year after Man of Steel, and the world is still getting used to having this powerful god on the planet who isn't fully trusted by everybody. Batman certainly doesn't trust Superman. Superman doesn't trust Batman; either of which causes the two to clash when they initially meet,” says a spy.

“They do however pair up to defeat the villains (not 100% confirmed who the villains are). COULD be Luthor and Joker, but only a select few really know that. Luthor is definitely in the sequel and he doesn't like Superman, believing him a threat to the planet,” the insider further reveals.

At Comic-Con, Snyder said the film would be loosely based on Frank Miller’s comic book “The Dark Knight Returns,” but would not be an exact adaptation of it.

A tentative release is set for 2015.
