VISA does not usually process payments this large via credit card

When a bartender from St. Louis saw a $200,000 (€150,700) tip on a $111.54 (€84) bill, he thought he struck gold.

He could just imagine his life changing when the financial director at the pub set him straight on the fact that it was a scam.

The customer just wanted to avoid a tip and wrote an outrageous amount there, knowing that the credit card company wouldn't process it.

"Basically, the gist of it is that banks don't honor payouts on excessive tips," uploader randomdazee writes on Reddit.

A Redditor sets us straight, writing that even if VISA would put the bill through, the client can just call them and erase it all together. They can claim that they have been scammed.

Apparently, this is a common scam that workers in the bar and restaurant industry come across.
