The whole scenario played out a few days ago in India

Samsung has recently rolled out its latest flagship devices, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, and thus attracted a lot of attention upon itself.

The two handsets have been called Samsung’s best effort to date, arriving with metal bodies, sleek displays, and a toned-down TouchWiz interface.

It appears some folks in India were so impressed by the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge that they decided it was a good idea to try and rob a Samsung truck complete with the flagships it was carrying.

So the wrongdoers came up with a bold plan. On April 1, they tried to steal a truck they believed was transporting a shipment of the two flagships and drove off with the vehicle into the night. But not everything went according to plan.

The robbers wanted to steal a truckload of Samsung flagships

The truck that the robbers intercepted turned out to be carrying machine tools, circuit boards and other Samsung devices from Indira Gandhi airport to Noida. Even so, everything on board still amounted to the pretty hefty sum of $4 / €3.68 million (as seen at the Indian Express).

When the truck arrived in Sarita Vihar (South Delhi), the robbers intercepted the vehicle, taking control of it. They assaulted the driver and his assistant holding them at knifepoint before taking off with the truck. The outlaws tried to prevent police forces from catching their trail by disabling the GPS tracker onboard.

However, the driver of the vehicle managed to raise the alarm soon after the incident because another truck arrived at the location of the incident.

Some of you might remember that last summer a similar story unfolded in Brazil. Bandits went on a frenzy and raided a Samsung Electronics factory located near one of the country’s metropolis, Sao Paolo.

Just like in last year’s case in Brazil, police is suspecting that this was actually an inside job. The latest reports concerning the matter reveal that four people have been detained and one of them is actually an ex-employee of the transport company, while another worked as a truck driver for the company in question.

A Samsung spokesperson stepped forth and commented that the company “deeply appreciates the efforts of the police and government on this matter.”

Unfortunately for the robbers, it seems that their efforts were all for naught, since the truck was actually carrying components and not the precious Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge units they were hoping to flee with.
