Zoo Brno in the Czech Republic is now home to three adorable baby sand cats that were born at this facility earlier this year, in April.

The young felines, one of which is pictured above, appear to be in good health and well looked after by their parents, zoo staff reassure.

For the time being, caretakers and vets have not been able to get close enough to the baby sand cats to determine whether they are boys or girls. Hence, they have not yet named them.

However, they reassure that, as soon as they can check up on the felines without upsetting the dynamics of the family, they will determine the gender of the siblings and find suitable monikers for them.

According to Zoo Borns, this species is native to Africa's northern regions and Asia's southwestern areas and is well equipped to handle the extreme environmental conditions in the deserts that it inhabits.

Despite the fact that mature sand cats are fairly small, i.e. they only weigh about 7 pounds (roughly 3.2 kilograms), the species has been documented to travel over distances of as much as 3 to 6 miles (about 5 to 10 kilometers) to find prey.

In case anyone was wondering, sand cats chiefly feed on small rodents. Due to the fact that their hearing is very well developed, they can even hear their prey as it moves in the underground.
