First off, I have to admit that I am a tad jealous of the baby camel pictured above, and not because of the very graceful way in which it appears to carry itself around.

On the contrary, I'm jealous of it because I've never had the opportunity to wear a coat as stylish as the one the baby camel got the chance to strut around in during its first few days of life.

Zoo Borns tells us that this young Bactrian Camel was born at Cincinnati Zoo in the United States about two weeks ago, on February 25.

Vets examined it shortly after birth, and said that it was a male. Hence, caretakers decided to name it Jack, the same source details.

The baby camel was born to mom Sarrai. At the time when it arrived into this world, the local weather was fairly harsh, which was why staff at the zoo saw fit to get Jack to wear a coat.

However, the warm weather arrived about a week after the baby camel had been born, and the young creature was given permission to break away with fashion and walk around wearing nothing but its own curly hair.

Conservationists estimate that, for the time being, just 1,000 Bactrian camels are left to inhabit the species' natural habitats in Central Asia.

Thus, the International Union for Conservation of Nature considers the species to be a critically endangered one.
